Sarge...

Well, let's not make a big hoodoo about it. You know, I was thinking why Sarge was universally liked, truly liked. Yeah, he was smart and knew some field stuff, he had a sense of humor and I know at least one HI lady who thought he was cute too, but that isn't quite it. Oh, I forgot to mention he wasn't defensive, he was at ease and peace with himself which just naturally made those around him relax a little too.
But the thing about Sarge, and Pappy, is that Sarge is what he says he is.

munk

Yeah, munk, all those things are true. I guess I never really stopped to analyze it. Sarge is just an upright dude, and I hope he's well and safe wherever he is.

Tried and failed evidently mods can disappeat stuf but can't change titles.

Don't worry, Josh, munk is just being slightly persnickety. "fuji1" took him out of context ( possibly deliberately to pick a fight, and ripped munk over something said in the "Tsunami" thread, so he has his feathers ruffled. He still holds you in high esteem as do I.

No worries, Rusty. I just thought munk had a good point. I didn't want anyone to see the title and think something bad had happened to Sarge. I caught the whole fuji1 thing, but I hadn't really noticed that munk's feathers were any more ruffled than usual ;) :D

Munk handled himself well with the fuji1 thing. I'm proud of him.:D
Unlike Munk my second response to him probably wouldn't have been so kind, especially after reading some of the things DIJ has had to say.:grumpy:

LESS OF ME ( Statler Brothers )

Let me be a little kinder
Let me be a little blinder
To the faults of those around me
Let me praise a little more
Let me be a liitle meeker
With the brother who is weaker
Think a little more of others
And a little less of me...

I should note that I got up this morning and my wife started in talking a mile a minute so it was fifteen minutes later that I got my first sip from cup of coffee #1. Nearly screamed at her. Now to go back and have cup #2. Then maybe I can be civilized.

The zen of country music?

From Glen Campbell

If you see your brother standing by the road
With a heavy load, from the seeds he sowed
And if you see your sister falling by the way
Just stop and say, you're goin' the wrong way

Well you've got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets

Don't walk around the down and out
Lend a helping hand, instead of doubt
And the kindness that you show everyday
Will help someone along their way

You've got to try a little kindness
Yes show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets

You've got to try a little kindness
Yes, Lord, show a little kindness
Just shine your light for everyone to see
And if you try a little kindness
Then you'll overlook the blindness
Of narrow minded people
On the narrow minded streets

Gregory Sikes with the handle of SLVRFLCN, IIRC
Also a USAF MSGT Active, attached to the Army. Don't remember his specific technical specialty, but was performing as a First Sergeant for his unit. Think he went to play in one of the Sandboxes. He had already done a tour in Afganistan, when he left he just left. I hope he is safe and well.
He made some cool little knives, I know. Collected straight razors, Used his HI knives frequently in Afganistan, even killing some bodacious spiders.

MSgt Gregory M. Sikes, 712th Air Support Operations Squadron (Forward Air Control), Fort Hood, Texas; knifemaker (mostly from old files); historical re-enactor (SCA); frequenter of the Dog & Duck Pub (with Pappy and me) and teller of tales; brought his "knuckleheads" home safe from 'Stan along with some awesomely sharp khuks and cool pakhoul hats for the lucky. I miss him, and wish him and his knuckleheads all the best, wherever they are.
