I don't know him, I've never met him, but it was his post on the "Po' Boy Puukko" that encouraged me to try my hand at making a knife out of a file. I found a broken file at work, had a free hour or two at the bench grinder, and went to work...
It didn't turn out as well as his.
It still doesn't have a handle. I made a chakma (with file teeth preserved on one face and one edge) from another piece of the same file. That doesn't have a handle either. I would've never even tried it without that thread though.
