Sarkis, scabbard makers, leather workers. Lend me your ears! Get an AK Bowie free.

Bill,
The only question I have is: Should the sheath be made to facilitate disassembly or should things be permananently fixed?
Dan

Dan, experience tells me to go ahead and make a permanently fixed rig. I fear if I send the sarkis one that is temporarily put together they will think this is how I want all scabbards to be made. They can get it apart if they must.

I am sending you and Terry each an AK today. As soon as you are done contact me and I will ship Brian's address to whichever one is thru with the AK first and then send it on to Brian so he can make up his version.

And, many thanks, amigo!

Khukuri FAQ

I must be missing something as all that came to mind when I saw the bowie sheath was - why didn't they just make it like the khukuri one. I took the frog off of my 15" AK and slipped it on the bowie sheath. It works fine. As for the retention strap, it is just too thin and should be stitched on.

-Cliff

Cliff, you could be right. I didn't like the leather, didn't like the tip, thought the retaining strap was a joke, and hated the idea that it had no good, heavy frog. They truly did not make it like a khukuri scabbard. Our final version is a very heavy knife which should have a like scabbard. I think we will see some good designs come in and the sarkis and BirGorkha critters can pick the one they think they can make the best.
