Good luck trying to chop wood with a TB or skinny ASH! I took my CF Sarsquatch camping in Kerrville this past weekend and honestly, it wasn't a good enough chopper either. For a regular trail knife, I think the Sarsquatch is a little on the heavy side, but that may be because I rock mine in a Chuddy leather sheath. If you put yours in kydex or thinner leather, you could probably save some weight there. For a camp knife in terms of chopping wood as part of its tasks, I'd say just use a machete or go up one level to HOGFSH or FBM. I love the Squatch as an all-around knife. If I had to hike all day with a knife, I would choose something smaller, like a TB. If I had to chop wood, I'd go bigger. But in terms of a mid-size all-around knife I don't have to carry all-day, I love the Squatch. As for your sharpness question, I found my Squatch got dull rather quickly on this camping trip, and didn't baton that well. Sharpness is a matter of putting a screaming edge on it rather than an issue with any particular knife, but edge retention is something else and I was a little dissapointed in the CF Squatch. Good news is I can send it to Busse or elsewhere to get the edge put back on it.
