Blade is over. I know darn well some of you hogs got a Sarsquatch. How does it compare to the Swamp Rat Chopweiler? Inquiring minds want to know! I want some action pics.

Can anything really compare to the Chopweiler? It's just too cute! Whether it's snapping away foliage or digging in the dirt, it's just a sweety!

Er, I mean, I want to know, too, please. :o

Sorry, I sold my Chopweiler when I got the Sarsquatch. :D

Well, not because I got the squatch, I actually picked up a Heavy Heart.

Look forward to any comparisons. My guess is the Chopweiler is a better chopper, while the squatch will be a better all arounder.

This is killing me. I had decided to concentrate on the less expensive Swamp Rats and Scrappers. I was not intending to get any more Busses.....then I saw the Sarsquatch. I will have one soon. I love the look of it. I guess I'll have to compare it myself when it gets here.

Well, if you can wait until the next Ganza, chances are that you may be able to score a Sarsquatch at a very good price, ie. not that much more than what Chopweilers are going for on the secondary market.

If price is generally your primary consideration, however, I think you may find the Busse addiction to be a painful one. That is not to say that you can't just turn around and sell them for what you paid if you don't like them because you can. The trouble starts when you can't bring yourself to sell a Busse because you like it so much, but you can't really afford to keep it either.:( That is painful.

Regardless, I would also like to know how these two blades compare in real world use. Surely someone must have both. IIRC, I think that someone once compared a Chopweiler with a Ratweiler and found the Ratweiler to be the better chopper. Howz abouts a Sarquatch vs. Ratweiler comparison???

I did a RatWeiler/ChopWeiler one a while back. Got a SARSquatch at Blade so I may give it a shot...

Maybe next week... :)

Great. I will do one, too. I have a CT and a Sarsquatch on the way. I will do a three-way chop-off between the Sarsquatch, Chopweiler, and the Camp Tramp. This important matter of science must be settled!

Sarsquatch, Chopweiler, and the Camp Tramp

My guess is that they will finish in that exact order...
#1 SARq
#2 CW (close to the SARq but still 2nd)
#3 CT

Just going by the apparent specs, I'd guess the Chopweiler will come out on top in chopping. But I have been surprised before. Not only will I do chopping against a chopping block, but slashing down free standing saplings and palmetto fronds. Some knives excell at chopping but are too slow and heavy for machete work. The Sarsquatch looks like a good all-around camp knife, but we will see.

If you haven't already done so, check out Jeepnut22's "The Contenders" link above. I was going to look for that earlier knowing that it was out there, but then got side-tracked.

Thanks for posting that link, Phil!

Very well done. Looks like the chopweiler is going to be the one to beat.
