SAS Mini Survival Compass

Sorry for ruining your day bud! :)

The Tru Nord stuff doesn't warp- I've had one in my car for a few months in the Phoenix heat- if that doesn't cause problems nothing will!

And about Marbles...well, it's just plain sad.

Greg,

My Marbles compass is about 12 years old and it has a metal dial. Your discovery of a plastic dial in your Marbles compass was so disappointing to me that I decided to call Marbles and get the scoop. They said that about 5 years ago they changed the construction to being liquid filled and a plastic dial. I am so ticked off! I can't believe they screwed up a 100 year old tradition. The website says nothing about being liquid filled. Unbelievable!

Looks like the Tru North is the way to go. According to a review, their dial is made of Lexan, which is pretty tough stuff, but I'm not sure about warping in a hot car. They do have a lifetime warrenty, but that doesn't help if you discover your compass is warped and your out if the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for ruining my day. I'm going to go sulk. :grumpy:
