Depends on how light you are talking. The problem with some polishing compounds is that they leave more of a mark than the scratch did. Or the area you are fixing gets polished too much and is shinier than the satin finsh which does not look good either. If you want to send it in we can always clean it up here at the shop.
Scotch bright pads work well for scratches. The home improvement stores have the large ones.
Lay it flat on a table and drag the blade across until your satisfied. I try to lift the edge up a bit to protect it.
If you do hit the edge, a quick pass an a ceramic rod will bring it right back.
