Hello! I would like some tips on satinf finishing blades please! There's something real sexy about a satin finished blade! (Or maybe its just the name!) I have turned a drill into a buffer, so info on either hand rubbed or buffed method will be appreciated

Crayola, The best method Ive found is to progressively bring it up in grit size to 400 or 600 then go back to 320. Put the new 320 paper on a counter top edge and start at the riccaso, use steady hard pressure and pull the blade strait all the way to the tip. If you stop it will show. Keep it up until you are happy. If your blade isnt perfectly flat the paper will need to cushioned with a thin peice of rubber. I sprang for a precision granite surface plate from Harbor freight. At least thats how I do it. Bruce

3M Scotchbrite makes a nice satin finish. You can buy it in rolls or as small buffing wheels to mount in a drill or drill press. The red and the green colored Scotchbrite both give a nice finish.

I agree with you. The Scotchbrite wheels leave a very nice satin finish. I have also used the sand paper method described above but I feel the Scotchbrite wheel is the way to go.
