He did this at one time. I too wish he would bring this back. I prefer this over the bead blast finish.
I can't say this is the reason why he no longer makes knives with a satin finish, but here is my opinion.
When you coat or bead blast a knife, the blade does not require to be finished as well as with a satin or polished finsh. This eliminates a step in the knife making process and saves time and money. It also allows the maker to pass on some blades that may not have been ground as well as others. The bead blast will hide subtle mistakes. This eliminates wasted material as well.
This is not really a bad thing. But if a maker is passing off inferior finished blades by hiding the mistake under bead blast. The maker should not charge the same price as those that are properly ground.
