Other than putting edges and making sheaths both these knives are done. Both were hand forged out of 5160. One I'm pretty sure one was from some John Deer axle or drive shaft steel I got from Dan Gray a few years ago and the other a piece of a big coil spring Goddard had given me. Both chunks of steel were forged down during the short period of time that I had the press before the fire. I'm not sure which is which now. Anyway the larger knife has a 8 1/2" blade, iron fittings, and a ebony handle. Its 14" overall. The other one has a 6 1/2" blade I left with a cleaned up forge finished, iron fittings, and curly maple handle and its 12 1/2" overall. Both knives weight around 12oz.

It looks like you could do this in your sleep, Ray, they both look so natural and organic. Every so often I need a fix of your work, and along you come just in time! :D Thanks for sharing Ray,

Yeah, no doubt about it ! After looking at Rays work for several years now, he has a style that is all his own.

And an awesome style it is

Thems some seriously fine lookin cutters there Ray

Kind of a sick lookin Butcher knife/Camp knife style, imho. Just wicked lookin Ray  And yeah, that was a compliment ;)

Ray, Its hard to tell on the blade that still has the forge marks on it but the more finished knife looks to have a meridian in the grind. Are these going to be double edged knives ? False edge ?

Like I said ..... I really like these knives !!!!

Dave, You've got a good eye. They both have a long forged in false edge. Something I've been trying to figure out how to forge for the last couple months. After I got that figured out I then needed to figure out how to grind them without removing it. Now I just need to learn to take better pictures.
