Afee,

Hard for me to tell from a picture, but why would someone buy the Savant rather than a Carnivore or Cub, depending on how big the Savant is? This is a question, not an opinion.

Thanks - Alan

It doesn't look the same to me.

First, the geometry, ergos, and design of the handle, and blade are different from other REKAT offerings. It's less tactical looking. Looks like a good general purpose, or hunting/fishing folder.

BUT the best answer to a knife knut is MORE IS BETTER. You could ask why someone needs more than one Benchmade Axis knife, yet many people collect the 710, Ares,...

One could go further and ask why anyone needs more than one good folder of a particular blade length. Again, to a collector, MORE IS BETTER. Heck, some people have several duplicates of the same knife!

Is it me or does the blade look VERY similar to the clip point blade on the Pioneer II? I like what I saw, it appears to be an excellent utility knife. I wonder if that is a FRN handle with a G-10 insert. Does anyone have more information about REKAT's newest knife?

A shorter blade and different handle ergonomics then the carni (my edc) with a pointier (sp?) tip for fine work. That and its just plain cool looking. It also looks like, after stipping the g-10 of the aluminum liners, one would be able to "dress it up" with some nice wood overlay for something a bit more dressy then the carnivore. Not a replacement, just an addition. I also like the handle better then the older pioneers with the finger coil.

I spoke with Christina yesterday and it seems that the Savant may get a blue G-10 insert! I need to buy one of these when they come out.
