Saving Tutorials

After reading Shokrs post on "zombie" thread, I thought to share an idea with all of you who love Tutorials and WIPs. Rather than leaving things to chance and allowing the hosting services to determine how long your pictures live, why not use Windows' Word to preserve the document? Heck, one can even save word documents as PDFs. This will allow "us," to keep them neatly as references. Personally, any time that I find a tutorial or WIP that is high quality or interests me, I save it as a PDF.
Just food for thought, at least two cents worth.

Regards,
Mike

I'll take the tutorial on Word. Can you easily save a several page tutorial as a .pdf?

Yes you can. Save the document under word, then "save as," and choose PDF as your format and it will automatically generate a PDF document which cannot be changed. I save it under word first in case something needs to be corrected.

When I try to save as on a webpage from my browser, Word is not an option. I get "webpage complete" or Webpage HTML only"

Erik, what I do is highlight everything that I want to copy(this takes a few times when doing a long WIP) then I go to Word and paste it directly into the document. Once it is all copied and pasted, I "select all," and then remove the formatting and I resize the photos to fit in a scheme that looks good to me. After everything is set up the way you want it, save it, then save it again as a PDF. I'm going to ask one of the guys whose tutorial I saved if he is okay with it being posted here as a PDF so you can see what I mean.

Thank you, as you were working on it, I tried a method more common to me. I tested it on "Wheeler's Stuck in the Middle with You" (100 pages). I "saved as" the HTML from my browser to my desktop and had a local file. I then and saved, (or printed) to a .pdf
It's 154MB, but it's in color and I can reduce the file size. I do have Acrobat Pro, but I think anyone can save the file full size. Thanks, now I know how to archive some important stuff!

Check that, I think my archive limited me to 100 web style (screen pages), page 100 is somewhere in the middle of the post.
