Hello folks!
I got an old saw blade from a mine a few years back and decided to make a couple knives out of it and they turned out really well. It is .084" saw blade steel (most likely a 10xx steel) with a clay quench Hamon and butterscotch g-10 handle scales and mild steel pins. These things are crazy sharp and hold an edge very well and are very flexible. I would say that this knife is geared toward hunting and skinning but can be used as an all purpose knife as well. I have done a flex test on another of the same material with a clay quench and easily bent to 90deg with out cracks or fractures. It also blasted through 1/8" brass rod without any edge damage at all repeatedly so it's safe to say that this little knife can take some abuse and be ok.
It was triple quenched with clay and tempered at 400 deg F. For two hours and then sanded to 2000 grit and ferric chloride etched and buffed to bring out the Hamon.
OAL is 7.5". 3.5" blade with a 4" handle
There is a flaw with the from pin. I got a little over zealous with the hammer when peening the pins and it's bigger than the rear and there is a bit of deformity in the g-10 so I will be selling this a little cheaper than I normally would.
I'm asking $100.00 shipped with out sheath and $125.00 with a leather pouch sheath
