Yes, the SAK Farmer's saw is no toy and is really useful for DIY in the home, in the garden or out on a walk. As others have noted, in confined spaces or for cutting small circles it shows brilliance.
There is a long history of saws on Traditional knives, they were common on Stag handled hunter's knives from Germany in the c20th, used presumably for sawing bone...French multi-tool knives from even further back used to have them.
GEC had a saw on the 15 pattern Strek some years back, matched with micarta scales for durability. They learned from a previous venture with saws..I can't remember the pattern but I thought it looked hideous like some monster Cockroach
Apparently, its saw was not much good either and the whole frame offered compromised grip. I'm sure somebody has a picture of the thing somewhere...
