Sawback on knife; jay or nay?

I don't do saw-back knives. The saw on a Rucksack size SAK is much more useful. One combo you might consider is to buy a Becker BK-7 or BK-9 and put a Rucksack SAK in the pocket of the sheath. That would make a good knife combo.

Skip the sawback stuff - get a Swamp Rat Camp Tramp, Fällkniven A1 or Becker Campanion plus a medium SAK.

This weekend i worked at my brothers house (fixing his roof). He owns two of my formers babies (Tigershark and Buckmaster). We were gonna put tiles on the roof. Those things were packed in the strangest way: a double band of some stupid plastic. Was not much room to cut without damaging the tiles (a bit hard to explain how they were packed, but you will have to trust this n00b on this one). So i whipped out the buckmaster, lifted the black plastic, sawback hooking behind it and my twist-and-turn opened the stuff like a charm :D
So although i am as convinced as the rest of you that sawbacks can be awkward and have limited use, i have decided to get me another one. In my personal experience i seem to be able to use them every now and then. It also gives me a nice excuse to add a blade without sawback to my equipment also
Decision is made. I have ordered an Extrema Ratio Harpoon F on which serrations will be added on the knife edge at my request. That means: a custom ER :D :D Oh, hell yeah! Can't wait untill that puppy arrives. Anybody interested in pics when it has arrived?

if you plan to stick your knife into living things, then a sawback makes sense. does lots of internal damage. a sawback bayonet will drastically reduce chances of survival, compared to a plain one.
personally, i do not forsee such circumstances arising, so i don't need to worry about it.
peace.

You know, while it's possible that a sawback might do more damage, if you're planning on using a knife for self defense, I would think you wouldn't want something that would be likely to get stuck.
