Sawteeth... How to. Need help.

Thanks for the response, Dave. I tried the filing with a triangle file using my leather man wave as model right next to a piece of 1/16" thick 0-1 steel and it worked pretty good. But when i went to a thicher piece of steel it did not turn out to good lol. I think I need a bigger Triangle file. I will look into getting one. I also chatted witha fellow who suggested using my oregon 511 a chain grinder for sharping my chain saw chains. I will try that and see how that goes. It would be a whole lot less wear and tear on me doing it that way then doing it all by hand.

Thanks again all for the responses.

Ok so this seems to be a sore spot for some folks:) but hay what do I know. I have made a working saw on 5 knives so far. All work well and all have not be a spot for the blade to break. If done correctly it will work.

Just sent this one out about 2 weeks ago.

Another of it in action, about 10 sec of action that is

Sorry I didnt get finished pics of the action. Was in a bit of a hurry to get the blade out. I hadn't even ht or ground the blade yet.

I have done this method by hand and with my mill. Much faster with a mill though:) I grind the bevels up to the bottom of the saw so that when the saw cuts past the tines it doesnt bind on the bevels. I also drill the stop point of each tine to not form stress risers. Each tine has a 6deg neg rake on the top and every other side of each tine on both sides has a 3 deg cant to make room for the cut.
Diff knife but same idea:)

It is not a %100 replacement for a hand saw or a wire saw as it is not as comfortable to use, but it works like a saw is supposed to and looks cool:o

If you wanna know how to make it let me know.

Thanks for the comentary and the pics.
it sure looks like it would work for making notches for trap triggers and other trap parts.
Have you ever tried to staggard tooth look like Dave talked about with your mill or files?
