This is probably the wrong section of Bladeforums to post this but I'm getting the feeling of being ripped off.

Has anyone bought a knife from Sawyer's Cutlery? It can be found through Yahoo! Shopping. They had super cheap prices and had the Top Service rating from Yahoo!. I ordered a SOG SEAL 2000 from them Friday the 11th and still today the 16th, I have not received an e-mail with my tracking order #. I e-mailed them on Monday or Tuesday saying I have not received the number and yesterday I sent them another one saying about the same thing. Am I wasting my "breath"? I'm not sure what to do right now. Should I wait to see if I receive the product or should I try and cancel my order somehow?

BTW, the product was shipped USPS Super Saver.

Try calling him? if thats a no go... then id say wait 1 more day (even though 6 days is super unacceptable) if after that NOTHING... then my friend I suggest you charge back your credit card, then file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau(sp?) May seem a bit extreme but lemme say this and this is not a way to advertise for my dealer... but this is how it goes when I order from the knife connection. I order my blade.. I get a confirmation email instantly of my order. withen 12-16 hours I have a email confirming by him that I placed an order.. then when its ready to go ANOTHER email.. then I get a final email with a tracting number.. Makes you feel warm and gooey inside doesnt it? :)

Online dealers should be even more cautious with making shure the customer is happy.. because theres how many more just like him that can satisfy your needs?

I've gotten a few items from Sawyer's on ebay. They go by knifestore.

I have always gotten what I've won via auction from them. Unfortunately, I have had incredibly poor response, especially when requesting tracking numbers, etc.

Decent deals, consistently poor communication, but never a "loss". They have good ebay feedback ( http://cgi2.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=knifestore ), so take from that what you will.

I would give it a few days before getting too worried. As I recall, they ship mostly by USPS Priority Mail, and it's coming from MA. By the time they respond to any email from you, it may aready be delivered.

I have made a few purchases from them through ebay. Most went smooth. I had one where the item they had listed and I won was not in stock. There was about a week delay, but otherwise it has gone fine.

I've bought a couple of things off of them through ebay. To date I've had no problems with them at all. The items are always good, and shipping is pretty fast. I personally wouldn't hesitate to do business with them again. So I'd say yes, give them a few days. :)

I have done many deals with sawyers cutlery..they are a good company to work with..but sometimes thier shipping can be a day or two later than expected..but it always.and I mean always arrives..I probably have bought 20 knives from them..

Ren

mods this should be moved to GB&U

Yeah i didn't know if i should post in the GB&U or not because it seems like it was only for this forum. My mistake.

I have probably bought around a dozen knifes from Sawyer's Cutlery through EBAY and have had nothing but good dealings with them. Since I only live a couple states from them I get my knives in 2-3 days and they are very good when a problem arrises. They also have pretty competitive prices.

I have a similar problem with a knife I have ordered from them. I called, the owner called me back and said he would find out what happened and get me my knife.

Sawyers cutlery is the worst company i have ever done business with. A group of us got together and made a purchase from the owner who has absolutely no customer service skills. There is zero communication with this person.

buy your blades anywhere but at sawyers cutlery!!![/color]

collins- that's an interesting post with which to make your Bladeforums debut. Do you want to offer some more facts about this problem you had?

You did notice that the last post was 4-19-2003. Anyway, welcome to BF.

Howdy:
New guy here. For what it's worth, I live a few towns over from Sawyer Cutlery. I have made multiple purchases at both his old Hingham location, and from his newer Hanover store, and have always been happy with his products, service and pricing. His website, however, is a real mess, and when I've gone to the store it does seem like very much a one man operation with the occasional friend or family member helping out. My guess is he probably waits until he has a bunch of knives to go out and then makes a trip to the post office. Certainly not defending him if he's been tardy or non-responsive replying to his customers, just confirming that my face to face interactions have been all above reproach.

Again, YMMV. He may have absconded to Canada for all I know.

i had an issue with them back in 2007 re: ordering a knife a couple weeks before i was due to move out of state...I was in gloucester mass, they were in hingham mass...even first class shipping should have only taken a day....long story short..the knife never came and they didn't respond to emails so i called them...they immediately shipped out another knife via UPS. Granted i got the knife the day i was supposed to move out of my apartment after having to chase the UPS truck around town but you may have better luck contacting them by telephone. I agree that they seem like a 1 man operation but don't think that they were scammers. The original knife that they sent was returned to sender when they made an error on the address. (we found this out by using the deliv. conf. number) They sent the new knife before they got the old one back.

again, this was in 2007 so YMMV

Just for the record, I called Sawyer on Friday just to make sure they were still a going concern. Fellow picked right up, I asked his hours, end of call. Try giving him a call on Monday. He may just be a bit of a Luddite and lousy with the whole email thing.

Good luck.
