It is frustrating having buyers Mark a knife as sold and then make no attempt to pay even within 24 hours. Is this a good reason to leave negative feedback? In my case the person has been on here since, responded to a visitor message with nothing pertinent and never sent an email or added any info towards the info of purchasing said knife.

The issue for me is wasted time, loss of exposure on the top page and just down right not professional. It's annoying to say the least.

You may want to double check with a mod, but i dont think you can leave feedback for something like that. I could be wrong, but i think a deal has to be completed.
I agree though, it is a pain.

Frustrating indeed. Sometimes I will include a reasonable sentence in my FS post that says, "Payment is expected within ___ hours of an 'I'll take it.'" That tends to minimize the heartburn. If payment is not received within that time block, the item becomes available again.

IMHO, if a buyer is not going to pay fairly quickly, a simple common courtesy could be as easy as posting in the thread, "Heading out the door and I will be back to pay in 6 hours. Please shoot me your email with payment information. My email is ..."

can't leave feedback on a non sale/not completed deal. pretty sure of that. that is what this forum is for....to leave a post warning others of bad folks and behavior, etc or good buyers sellers, etc.....

I had a problem with this on a transaction recently as well. Someone posted "I'll take it if it's still available" and when I reached out with my PayPal information, he replied with several questions about the knife's condition/etc. I immediately responded with answers, but told him that it didn't look like he was actually making a firm offer to purchase, and if someone else did I would have to take their offer.

Needless to say, he never responded, and I sold the knife to someone else. But just like you said, it was impolite at best and a bit of a screwjob at worst. I am sorry this happened for you.

I don't use the I'll take it thing in my sales. I ask that they contact me useually threw the phone or email, that way if someone wants it but is slow to pay or reply I can give someone else who is ready to go the option. If I buy something online they don't put it aside with my name on it until I pay.

If I'm not prepared to make an immediate payment I don't claim it I feel that's just good business.

Can't leave feedback, but posting here is fine.
It's a shame, because I look at an I'll take it as an agreement to purchase.

I pretty much never "Hold" a knife or do the "SPF" thing anymore. Too many tire kickers who say that they will purchase, but never do.
My policy now is pretty much whoever can pay me first, will get the item.

I am a reasonable person, if someone says that they can pay when they get home, I will allow that. But I still will take offers and let the other people know that there is a person who said they will send me funds around a certain time, if they dont, I will send the next person interested my payment info.

A firm "ill take it" is like a hand shake to me. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean much to folks these days.

Looks like your buyer also said "I'll take it" to another 92, 5 minutes after yours. Dragging feet on payment stinks. I have seen some sellers put stipulations on length of time before they move on to the next buyer. Might be something you could do in the future. Good luck!

That looks to be correct. It also looks like he is going on 4 days without payment on that 2nd 92. I don't think there is any emergency on the prospective buyer's part since he was on yesterday afternoon.

I feel after stating I'll take it.....payment should be made in an hour. Unless other arrangements are made, an hour to pay is plenty. Maybe include something along those lines in the sales ad??
No payment, or comms in an hour, move on to the next buyer and hopefully your ad will still be on the first page.
Can't stand when people do this shit.

I agree. I mean lets be honest. Most deals are done with Paypal. PP has an app. Everyone has a cell phone. Unless you are still using a flip phone you can send money to anyone in literally 30 sec. Its really not that difficult

^^^ How true!
Seen this happen quite a few times and the main reason I've heard is the buyer is hoping to find one cheaper.......or the wife found out.
Come on.......say you'll take it??? Pay for it and take it.
Joe

I don't mind that much if they come back and say they can't buy it for what ever reason-stuff happens. It is the ones that totally vanish after the I'll take it that annoy me. I then waste time trying to contact them as other buyers come and go. Many times I never hear from them again. Maybe I should cut them off sooner, but it's not that I need the money so soon, just communication-are you in or out?

Appreciate all the feedback everyone. Guess I'll have to adopt some new verbiage into my future sale threads. Thanks

Yeah man, if you state it, buyer can sell to whomever they want. Was a sweet lookin' 92 by the by!

If I make a friendly and positive comment in a sale thread I get an infraction,(long time ago) but these inconsiderate dirtbags get a pass!?FTS!These people need to get infractions too damn it.
