Hey I really like the look of these but have never purchased a Scagel. Anyone have any experience with these brand of knives? Offer opinions and such please. Reviews would be great! Thanks!

I purchased one of those in stag a few months back. I can't say I've used it much, but I can say I'm very happy with the knife. The stag is very nice, which is always a concern. The overall fit and finish is great. Also great walk and talk. No problem pinching it open, at a 6 or so.
I'm really impressed with the convex edge on this knife. It is as sharp or sharper then anything I've owned.
Now that I've made all these positive comments I think I'll stick it in my pocket!

Added note; they are made by GEC and convex ground by Bark River.

They are made by GEC and then sent to Bark River for a nice convex grind, so the fit and finish should be top notch.
I own one in ram's horn and love it. The handle is one of the most comfortable I have, and the long wharncliffe blade looks oh so good. It has a nice strong snap and half stop, but since you can open it by just pinching the blade right where the slot is, your fingernails don't suffer. It works almost as well as an Easy Open. (But careful, with this snap it can bite :D )
The only downside I can see is the thickness of the blade. It is by no means too thick, but since it is such a long and narrow blade the angle of the grind is a little steeper than say on a comparable clip blade, making it a slightly less good apple slicer :) But it makes up for it by being such a useful, extremely pointy and sexy blade.
All in all I'd say go for it, you'll enjoy it.

Been wanting one (Ivory or bone) since they came out but have not been able to get Derrick to send me one for my birthday.

He's stubborn...and I'm poor.

Yes, its a clip point in Ivory. Here are a couple shots that show it a little closer :)

One thing notable IMO is the all steel construction. I can't comment on clip vs wharncliffe because it is only a preference.

The clip is a nice full size blade and it does have a very sharp tip.

They've been on my wish list since they were first offered by (vendor reference removed).I can't decide which one I like better, the smooth bone, ram's horn or stag(all wharncliffes of course for me:)).I'll admit the high price tag has much to do with me not snagging one quick.
I really like that smooth bone wharny the best & it looks like there's only one left.Oh well, guess that won't be there long.:o:grumpy:

I have one in bone which I love. My only word of caution relates to the scale material, I've had a knife from the same vendor (different model) in stag which had totally different scales. The vendor's pic's only show one side. It didn't bother me hugely but if I was picking from stag or ram's horn I would pick the one I liked then ask the vendor if the opposite scale matched before ordering.

Lovely knives though:)

I've been carrying my smooth bone wharncliffe a lot since picking it up a few months ago. For me it's the ideal length for EDC and it's been very handy for slicing fruit and opening the occasional box. It came ridiculously sharp and has been very easy to keep that way. The blade has developed a very nice patina that makes the knife all the more appealing in my eyes. The only bummer for me has been my wife dropping it in the sink and dinging the point on the blade. (She was pretty bummed about it too)

If you're thinking about it and the price isn't a hinderance, I'd say go for it. I can't imagine someone not liking this knife.

Great knife, I love the profile and the fit and finish is quite close to custom level imo. The only issue I had with mine was the shield inlay wasn't perfectly done, but this appeared to be an issue with a lot of the ivory ones and obviously doesn't effect the function of the knife in any way. I'd highly recommend this knife

I had wanted one for the longest time, but the price, and never having tried one in hand kept me away. But I was lucky to score one from a member here at a price way too good to pass up, and now I would feel confident buying one new outright. It's just a hair long for me to pocket daily, but it does get used almost every day, it's my lunch and snack knife at work, and has been fed a very strict diet of mostly apples and the occasional Korean BBQ. And as Sturzi noted, it makes a terrific apple slicer!

The wharncliffe is sweet:

I hesitated for awhile at the price, then said what the heck.

the bone is cheaper than the other two options. This being said, the bone is very sleek, and wears\changes color very nicely over the years. The stag on the other hand, is very comfortable and compliments the blade wonderfully. did you decide on clip vs wharnie?
