Scale liner replacement

What would be the best material to replace the ESEE scale liners with? I "somehow" managed to let mine get thrashed while they were off of the blade and laying in a drawer in my shop.

I have used thin plastic on the but plates of guns.
I found the right thickness is plastic jugs,milk,detergent and the like.

How did you get the liners off the scales???

They're glued on.

I was recoating my RC and stuck the scales in a drawer. It was about a month ago and other stuff like files, stones and various other blades go in and out of that drawer so the liners are all chewed up.
The micarta sanded out okay but I had to surface grind the liners off to replace them.
