I'm considering grinding an Anso syle pattern into my stock Paramilitary 2 scales. what will happen if I do this?! Do i need to keep the screw holes uncut?

Just don't. Especially if you've never done it before. Buy aftermarket scales with them already done. There's so many things that can go wrong here, most likely the grooves will be too deep and compromise the integrity of the scale (they're quite thin because they're milled out for the Compression lock). or they will be too shallow and not look like anything. Anso patterns are usually done with thicker stock than the original scales so that there's room to remove material for the grooves.

If you screw it up, I have no idea what your recourse is other than paying Spyderco for new stock scales.

I am worried about how thin they are... if i screwed it up id just buy some new g10 scales with the pattern already done:D

.145" (scale thickness O.A.) - .05" (liner thickness) - depth of peal-ply texture = not much remaining for an anso pattern.
This is why most aftermarket shaped scales for PM2 are thicker overall than the factory slim profile.
Take a close look at the thickness of the scale material behind the compression lock, with consideration that this is the thickness throughout the majority of the scale (exception is the narrow perimeter border).

You can glue a liner to your factory scale if it is not milled anywhere. This will add an extra 0.030" of thickness to the scale. You can glue pinstripes or just a solid color. You can stack them to add whatever thickness you may need and it ad some custom flare

PM2 has stainless inletted liners. He "could" laminate thickness to the outside, but would need to deal with all the fasteners. Doable, yes I suppose but already mentioned just buying aftermarket.
