Plastic blade guards. Cheap insurance.

They have folding magnetic ones, too.

I use them for some kitchen knives that are usually in a drawer.

I never bother covering the blade either and I've never cut myself. But if your hands aren't steady and you're worried about getting cut making a cardboard sleeve is quick and free other than a bit of tape.

Be sure to keep track of the original spacer and screw position since some are longer than others.

So if you forget which position the spacer goes to, what is the correct order. I am guessing the longest is in the middle.

Hopefully there is a prototype in works for the CPK Kukri. Freaking excited for that one ... Hopefully I don't dismember one of my limbs with it!

Wouldn’t be hard to figure out. The longest would go where the handle is the thickest.

BTW, DennisM , if that red loktite‘d screw needs to come out (e.g., you want to reuse the spacer with different screws), just put the spacer with screw for a few sec over heat, for example a gas stove or similar. Don’t put too much pressure on the spacer with pliers or similar.

DennisM - after you thread the screw about two thirds out of the barrel/spacer. Use your thumb and push that screw until it is seated in the scale again. Then unscrew it the rest of the way. This the best way I have found to get the barrel out without galling it.

A lot of knowledge to be absorbed here. Lessons learned are very helpful for a bonehead that would otherwise be diving in head first trying to reinvent the wheel. I love this forum. Thanks all!

I have a set of ECAM scales for the UF1 where the holes don't quite line up and I can't get the last standoff in. Wondering if they shrunk or something?
