Scale Removal

i am wanting to rehandle some slipjoint tappers and such...are there any tips or advice i should look at or listen too? i think i have the basic idea behind it and would not really have a problem just wanted to know if there are any tips you all have... thanks in advance erik
 
Or, you could just post questions here. I have worked on a "few" knives.

the best tip I can give is .Roughly shape the scales you want and fit them to the knive taking care to fit into the balster nicely .Once fitted to the knive its much easyer and faster to shape the scales when fitted on the knive .It can be a good idear when fitting them to use a drop of super glue with out pining so they can be taken off again and polished or what ever finish you like ti use.Hope this helps
 
My 2 cents is buy a few china knives to start with till you get better.You will certainly screw up the 1st few jobs.Much better to mess them up rather than your "good" knives.
