Scale thickness

I am thinking about getting a knife with rather thick scales. i would like to make new scales that are thinner and a different color. Does the change in thickness effect the body and pivot screws. Also does it effect the axis look set up? Thanks for any insight.

The new BM 300sn. I was thinking about dying the scales also but i dont really wanna ruin those beautiful scales. i just perfer black g10.
