I recently bought both the Scallion and the Oso Sweet (hard to pass them up for the price, around $45 or less for the two of them if I recall). Both have pretty thin blades, nice and sharp but of course not meant for prying/abuse.
I have found I carry the scallion more often because it is smaller, easier to fit into a jeans watch-pocket or in my front pocket which always has my large-ish keyring/keys, and because at work I'm usually supposed to wear dress pants, which are uncomfortable with too much stuff in the pocket s (thank God I don't have to wear a tie!). I also have a Kershaw Tanto Blur as well as Spyderco Native, but I don't often bring them to work because of all the sheeple in my environment. Even the Scallion opens with enough of a solid whack! that I sometimes use two hands to open it gently and slowly if I have to open it around people (or use my Spyderco Ladybug or little SAK classic).
The flipper with Speed Assist works great on both of them, although it comes to more of a point on the Oso Sweet, so isn't quite as comfortable to operate. I mean the flipper itself comes to a sharp point or corner. I've not had to sharpen either of the knives yet but haven't done a lot of heavy cutting. On the Oso Sweet, there is no thumb stud and the blade shape is longer and thinner, perhaps better for kitchen/food prep work, whereas the Scallion does have thumb studs, but I don't use them because the flipper works so well. Being smaller, it *did* take me a few minutes of practice opening to keep my fingers out of the way not blocking the blade, since my hands are fairly large, but I don't even have to think about it now.
The Scallion does have a more substantial clip than the Oso Sweet, although I usually have it *in* my pocket rather than clipped at the top. I have not removed either clip but it is nice that they are removable. I thought the Scallion was defective at first, stuck closed, till I found it has a tiny screw and pin that can be slid into a "lock" position at the tip of the blade. The tension on that screw is just right, it doesn't move on its own but I can easily push it to "locked" or "unlocked" position.
