I bought a scallion from wally today , very sturdy lil knife . I cant find out what metal the blade is , do any of you know what it is ? It has the black coating on the blade . Thanks , Travis .
It's arguable that size and "sturdiness" are directly proportional. If you get a chance, handle a Chive. It's even MORE sturdy. They have very similar spring components, thus the "snap" effect is even more pronounced on the Chive model. The whole line (Leek, Scallion, Chive) has a solid, well crafted feel. Love 'em.
I have a Scallion, plain edge blue aluminum. Great knife. I am also of the belief that small knives usually have better fit and finish than their bigger counterparts. The Scallion liner lock is short and thick relative to the blade and handle it must support. I trust that it will hold securely.
