Many of you are getting e-mails from Will York claiming that he is stuck in the UK and needs money.

DO NOT RESPOND IT IS A SCAM!!!!!!

We spoke with Will and he is fine and in the states.

Thanks for posting this, I figured his contacts had been compromised.

I thought about posting an "off topic" thread on the subject.

I was just about to search his posts seeing if he made mention about a trip.
 
Yep I got the email, asking for payment Western Union, I knew it was a fake and not even his real email.

Thank you, Amy, and thanks to Jerry for calling this morning. My email account apparently has been hacked. I really appreciate the concern of those who have contacted me about this, and I'm very sorry for the trouble it has put you to. I'm changing all of my passwords, and have changed mine here on BF as well. I still cannot get into my email account with gmail, so if you need to contact me, please use pm here for now.

I should have access to my email account again within 24 hours, according to google, and will post here once this has been cleared up.

When I saw the title "Scam alert!!!" I thought someone was selling fake Busse FOLDERS!

Glad you're ok. If you were in the UK I could at most send you a few bucks.

Thanks for posting. I just got the email and was sending email to Will. Sorry Will. It's a real pain when this happens.

I was also about to send you a PM to make sure that this was a fake email. Glad you are not stuck elsewhere. I hope you get your email account straightened up. Good luck.
 
Got it, called Will, scanning my computer now. Thanks Amy, once again it's Coors Light Brigade to the rescue!

I can stay calm because it wouldn't work in my case. If somebody would be pretending that is me and would ask my contacts for money, they would send him to go f... himself...myself...wait,,,what :confused:

You've had to catch some kind of malware Will. It happened to me once and it was very unpleasant. Somehow I instaled malware and it was spaming messages that I have to buy a anti-malware program and that was the malware itself.
 
So wait... I shouldn't have sent that $10,000??? :eek:

Thanks for all the expressions of support, and again, I'm sorry for the hassle.

I did pick up three malware infections at once working together, and they have now apparently successfully been removed from my computer. Hopefully these will not cause anyone else here problems, but to let you know, two of them were Exploit:Java files and one TrojanDownloader.

My email account with gmail has been restored and I have changed my passwords there and here, so any emails coming through BF should come through from this point forward.

However, I have lost all emails and contact info on my Gmail account, so any email messages sent to me before about 8:30 am EDT have been lost. If anyone is waiting for an email reply from me, please send another email through Bladeforums and I will be glad to reply.

Thanks for this notice! I was more than a little worried about Will when I got that email, and I'm glad you are OK!
