Has anyone else gotten this email? The writing sort of reminds me of those Nigerian notices that someone wants to give you $8,000,000,000.

"Dear Knife Maker,
This is to inform you that a new auction and fixed price site for artwork,
http://www.artworkbid.com , has been established in the spring of 2009. As
we know you are actively involved in art indie, we write this invitation
letter to you to invite you to participate in building a new harmonic, cost
efficient marketplace for both buyer and seller.

The aim of ArtworkBid.com is to provide a place to connect both the
handmade indie, artist, crafty together. According to our statistic, many
of our members are interest in KNIFE product. Some of them are specialize
in making knife. They usually visit our site to source for the KNIFE SCALE
material. We have a number of high quality MAMMOTH IVORY SCALES at
reasonable price.

During promotion period it is free to list your items. It does not cost you
any extra to promote your items, so why don't you give your product a
chance to reach the buyer?

Let's make a legend.
Best Regards,
ArtworkBid.com"

I guess it might be real, but there is so much internet B.S. flying around out there, that I am skeptical.

No, I got the same thing but honestly checked out the scales (lots of "mammoth") but I don't know that I trust the quality. The description says "handcrafted by our aritsan" and such but then state it is 10,000 years old. They have an awful lot of auctions to be quality (or even real) mammoth in my opinion....

Steve,

Are you trying to tell me that I did not inherit $20-ba-zillion dollars from a long lost relative who just happened to check-out in Nigeria? Man, I have been checking my mail box 12 times a day, even after the mailman runs.:D

I checked that website and noticed that there were no bids on (can we say) ANYTHING.

If it is legit, give it a little time and see what happens. Anybody could throw a website together in short order and post pics of all kinds of products. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it would sure be nice to get a few credit card numbers, then they are outta here. Hard to trace, especially if they are from some rented basement in Zwacheecheeland.

I ain't buyin' it just yet.

Same mail came to me too. It is form a member here, did post to a few threads nothing special. Maybe mods can trace him or block if it is Scam...

Yep I got the same thing. I just guessed it was junk. I have gotten m.o.p offers to that are not in English.

yep got it as well. don't really know if its a scam but there are many people here to get my material from that i trust.

I got that one too, and one that said a S.African bank was holding
11.5 M $ for me.......both are (LOL) questionable...

you shoud email them back and tell them that thy should give the money to the pore so thy can eat and that you dont want it. :D

Yeah, I got it too and decided to just wait to see if anyone actually seems to buy anything there, then try to see how that works out... Too easy to suck up CC numbers from who-knows-where for me to trust them right off. Plus, all the "mammoth" scales were just too small for my uses. Some of them looked nice though.

To put this on the other side of the scale, the responses here show how hard it would be for a legitimate seller overseas anywhere to establish a foothold selling to US customers. We're just too cautious to jump right in. And rightfully so. But I'm always in favor of more places to spend my money. :)

I was on their list also. Lets wait and see what developes before we send money.

Well, I haven't recieved any mails from them, but I've bought/won a set of mammuth scales.
I'll let you know how things turn out :D

Yep , I got that one also . It went directly to my shred and bleach file . I don't trust any of that stuff .

Got my scales today. They are just as promised. Shipping was fast and they were well packed. I'll bid there again if something interesting shows up.

I got a friend request from these guys on facebook. I thought that it might be a bit fishy, but was interested in seeing what they had to offer anyway.

I bid/won for some buffalo horn scales for $5.99. Will let know everyone know when/if they show up.. I'll also post a comparative photo so we can see if I actually receive what I bid on.

When e-bay quite selling all ivory, the chinese lost a part of the market and they are trying to build it up. In my opinion it is not a scam.
