Getting a Skookum bush tool. I am wondering if A-2 would be better with that thin ground scandi edge, as well as A-2 being a wee bit better at warding off rust in the bush. (Properly heat-treated of course) Any opinions ? Thanks.

I chose A-2 for my Skookum which will arrive in about ten months or so. I chose it because I have a few O1 blades already, the A-2 blade in my woodworking plane keeps its sharpness longer than the O1 blade I have, it seems a bit tougher and like you said, it should be a bit more corrosion resistant. Either way you'll win, but I kinda think A-2 has the edge (pun intended).

When did you order yours ? I've been waiting almost 18 months !! Rod said I'm about 1-2 months away. Getting antsy !

I have one in A2 and I'm quite happy with it. Its one tough knife. Mac

As much as I like O1 for its ability to take a scary sharp edge, I like A2 a little better;

...it’s tougher, holds it’s edge a bit longer and also polishes up scary sharp, though it is a bit harder to sharpen (but only a little).

Mine is in O1 (and in the Netherlands getting a sheath made by Martin:thumbup:)...I like it, but if I was to do it all over again, I'd go with A2. I don't think you could go wrong with either, but I've been happy with the A2 blades I have (mostly BRKT knives).
