anyone tried removing the second bevel?

not full flat grinding, though that would be awesome too, but i'm thinkin i'd like to retain the strength of the saber grind while gaining the thinner, sharper edge.

Although I don't think I've heard of Krein scandi-izing any knives, I've sent mine to him for thinning out, and I'm sure that if anyone can do it (with power tools, that is; you might run into heating issues) he can!

Mag.---Tom can do a Scandi. He was going to do my E-4 like that but stated that grind would leave the blade a tad too wedgie. Sooo, I'm still think'n on it.

Send it to Mike Stewart of BRKT, and get him to fully convex it for you. :D

I scandi ground my Endura in about 15 minutes with my DMT XX Coarse, then spent some time refining the scratches on finer stones. It just takes a little time and muscle. No need to send it off if you have an XX coarse stone, in my mind. If you are going to send it off to Tom Krein you may as well get the full flat grind, IMO, as you will have less binding on deep cuts and beter overall cutting ability. I have a Krein FFG Endura and my scandi ground Endura, and know that for a fact.

i've emailed tom n the past. either i didn't get past his spam filters or he didn't care.

i have a bet sander. i'm wiling to try it myself on a smaller, cheaper knife. too bad the ladybug and all the birds are hollow ground. i'll look for a used delica.

Tom cares, it would probably be a spam filter stopping you. Call him at 479-233-0508 and he will take care of any questions you have. He is a great huy to talk to and he is really good with his customers.

Mike---Not only is Tom a great huy, he's a great guy! lol. He called me when my HD-7 was done and we had a nice chat. I like eem!

I scandi ground my waved endura. No power tools just a lot of elbow grease on a course stone. Took me about 2 hours id say

Which stone did you use? The DMT XX Coarse did the hard work in about 15 minutes for me. Factor in about another 15 minutes of clean up on finer stones and I was done. The DMT XX Coarse is a supremely fast cutting stone, though, and a DMT Coarse wouls have taken me probably over twice as long. I also use a lot of pressure, which speeds things up.
