Hi Roland,

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you asked "is there a taper from spine to beginning of Scandi grind?" The plunge cuts at the ricasso do flow into the cutting edge, I don't just drop the grind in. Also, the spine of the blade is a constant thickness until it reaches the tip when it tapers. I hope this answers your question.

Thank you for the positive comments suttond.

A scandi grind SHOULD be the same thickness at the spine as it is at the top of the bevel. There is only one bevel on a scandi ground knife, the edge bevel.

Price drop.

A scandi grind is basically a flat profiled blade with the bevel applied. The bevel extends only about 1/4" or a bit more up from the cutting edge and there is no secondary bevel. There is only one flat ground bevel.

Leaving the majority of the blade flat results in a strong knife (as you have the full thickness of the stock) with a very keen edge.

Hope this description helps with clarifying what a scandi grind is.
