Scandi Pocketmuk

Just got in line for one of these come Oct. Now I got two reasons to not be able to wait til Oct gets here. Cool weather and better deer hunting and now my knive. 3 months is going to be a long time. Can someone give me thier spot in Sept. :D.

I still need an email with your info and address to get you in my order book.

Haven't checked the JK forum for a while so I dropped in today. Have to say, this is probably my favorite version of a nessmuk-styled knife I've ever seen. Seems to have a much more comfortable-looking handle than most nessies.

Were I to get one it wouldn't be a scandi though :D May or may not ever actually order one of these, but thought the design and execution needed to be complimented.

JDS1, I was curious if you've had a chance to use your creation now and if you have any comments or observations. I have a spot with John that I need to fill and this is on the short list. I am especially curious about the size & length of the handle. Would you change it at all?

I haven't used it much yet, but after handling it quite a bit I can say that I'm very satisfied with the way it turned out. The inside and outside curves of the handle are very comfortable and the length is just right for me. Also, the counter pressure of the butt of the handle against the palm and the thumb in the curve of the spine make the knife very stable in the hand. I'm also happy with the blade to handle ratio. I like the 3/32" & Scandi combo too... it's a real slicer. I wouldn't make any changes on this one.

I was just curious because after looking at your "in hand" shot a bit more I was concerned that a full grip might put the hand and edge pretty close to each other. It was kind of hard to judge though. I like your design alot, kind of has a bit of "Canadian" to the lines and the scandi grind is a beautiful touch!

It feels pretty safe and secure for me. I think the micarta will provide some extra grippiness during wet use. John's the only other one to handle this knife, maybe he's got an opinion.

I was thinking about a nice wood scaled version, maybe a burl or torched wood. Your design has some really traditional elements that I think would look good with a natural material scale. Thanks again JDS1!

With the texture of the canvas micarta, unless you were doing a full power stab, I think it would be fine.
