Scandinavians, first annual becker meet and greet weekend!!!!!!!!!! October 17-19

We have two places to choose from, so we would like some input from yo guys on this...

The first place is by the side of the dragrace strip at Gardermoen, this is about 10 mins from the airport.
We will stay outside, so this is camping. For you guys comming by plane (and others) I will provide a big military tent with a woodstove.

The second place is at an old farm, this is about 50 mins from the airport so we will have to try and carpool with the guys comming by plane.
This is inside, we sleep inside (if you do not want to sleep outside), the festivities will be inside/outside, and the contests will be outside.

We would really like your input on this, so please chime in.

I'm good with either option, but I guess the camping is a bit more dependent on the weather, heavy autumn rain might put a damper on things.
 
You are right St Loke, we are praying for good weather...
If we go for the outside camping place we have possibilitys to put big tarps up...
 
10-12th of October sounds good. However i'm gonna have to let you know later if i'll be able to make it or not.
Sure hope i'll be able to go though.
 
Cool Norse, we are as of now about 12-15 people, and I think more will come to when the gathering is closing in..
Let`s make this the success we wish for, because then this WILL be an annual event for years to come..
In the spirit of (Uncle) Mr Ethan Becker, we wish for good times, good food and fun contests up here in Norway...
 
Ok, so as of now people we are 12-15 partisipants to our gathering, we have one danish guy, some swedes and norsemen...
And I think there will be more people tagging allong as the date come closer...
We hope for this to be the success we wish for, with good folks, good food,(drink), fun contests and new friends..
We hope to be able to do some "classes" if any of you guys have some knowledge you would like to share with the others.
Lennox and I will bring a buttload of knives for testing, maybe trading/selling, or just for you guys to fondle and handle the knives you`ve looked at online and maybe wondered about the feel...
All in the good spirit of (Unle)Mr Ethan Becker and his gatherings in Tenessee...
I actually just sent an email to Ethan to tell him about the customs procedures we need to fulfill...
If this gathering turns out a success, this WILL become an annual thing..

Thanks to you guys for helping us make this happen, wouldn't be tha same without any participation from you...
Next year will be set during the gathering, if interest is there to.make this a yearly thing...
 
I will bring a small load of blades too. Looking forward to checking out what others are bringing.

Could be great, if we could make this an annual thing.

As for classes, kydex bending and leatherwork could be fun to talk about, for those who haven't made sheaths themselves.
I wouldn't be able to bring materials for a workshop, but we could make it a Q&A session.
I know Lennox has experience with that too.
 
Both Lennox and me are dabbling a little with leather, so that could be done..
We are also trying to get a friend to come with some cind of stand.. He is a leather dealer right outside Oslo..
I'm meeting up with Lennox and five other forumites later today, will talk to him then..
 
Hello guys, just wanted to give you a heads up, I have both bad and good News for you regarding the gathering in October..

Bad news: My partner in crime Lennox has allready booked a trip to Knob Creek that exact same date, so we have to push the gathering one week.
The New date will be 17-19 October, and we will do this at the farm (no problem), due to the unstable weather at that time.

Good news: Lennox will buy a lot of knives that he will bring for sale at the gathering (Busse/Swamp Rat/Scrap Yard)
He also has some thing in the makings With Knifehunter.com that will be reveiled at the gathering.

Hope this does not turn out to make trouble for you guys, because we want this to be a good weekend og fun and New friends,
so we hope to see you anyway...

October 17th suits me even better, so I am still in.

As for the farm, and sleeping arrangements.
Are we talking a barn, where we bring our own sleeping mats and sleeping bags?

I may just go for a tarp and bivy bag, and take it outside.
 
Bags and mats are right, we have heat inside, but I might go for the sleeping outsider myself.
Up to each and everyone what they want to do...

I am about ready to book my plane tickets.

Just want to know if everything is in order, before booking the tickets...
 
Everything is in order, date set to Friday 17 to Sunday 19 October..
We are waiting for the box of goodies from Ka-Bar, and the other contributors are being worked out as we speak...
We are really looking forward to seeing you guys, and hope the weekend will become a success...
 
Ok, I will go ahead and order the planetickets.

I am still a little unsure how the plane will land. Norway is all mountains, and no flat spots...

Maybe it's a parachute drop-off:D
