I just finished up a Chef knife for a customer in Canada. The customer provided the Materials (Via Burl Source), He asked for no pins so that all the wood will be visible. We compromised with 3 - 1/4" Hidden pins and 2 - 1/8" nickel pins.

That's a great looking chef. The wood isn't bad either!!
What grit did you polish to for the hamon, I have 2 different 1095 chefs on the bench right now.

Ben, I have actually been working on a lower grit higher contrast hamon with the last 20 blades I've done. I think I have it where I like it. I get very similar results with W2 and 1095. I will shoot you an Email or you can give me a call if you like!

Thanks Jonny!

The far left has only been Flitz'd after Etch but not polished. the Second from the right is this Chef knife!

Great hamon and shape on this one Ryan and the wood is nice too. WOW!! the shoot of the four hanging on your bench tell a beautiful story!

Nice work,
Eric

That looks great. I like how the spalt line in the handle give sort of a continuation of the hamon line.

Very cool Ryan. The hamons are awesome. I am about to jump in on a small chef's knife for a Christmas gift, or at least hopefully for an Christmas gift! We'll see what happens.

Very nice my friend! I also got a block of that sycamore from Mark... can't wait to use it!

I really like what you're doing with the "coarse" polish. I'm finding there's just as much of a learning curve with that, as there is with the stupid fine polish.

You know, when I VERY FIRST saw clay hardened blades and fell in love with them, they were blades with the black line like your blade on the left. After like 12 years of fiddling with them, I have NEVER gotten one that showed as a black line like that! :foot:

Keep up the great work Ryan! :)
