Scar Blades

Never heard of them before. I like the Hawkeye, it has the same style of serrations that ESEE use to great success. The website seems to have some bugs to it though

They have been building knives for about fifteen years up in idaho somewhere. I had boughten two of their knives from a gun show in salt lake a few years ago, and honestly they are some of the best knives i have ever owned. They use 1095 high carbon steel for their blades, and they are heat treated only along the sharpened edge, which keeps the spine of the blade softer to absorbe the high impact from chopping. They maintain a great edge and are very simular to TOPS knives but a little cheaper on the wallet. I give these knives 2 thumbs up.

Well I like the design of the invader but $160 for a 10" piece of DHT 1095? even with Cryo and triple temper, that's fairly steep. Id rather go for something else

I am a new user here. I stumbled upon this thread looking for SCAR Blades website and thought i would tell you about my expereince with them. I personally own three of their knives - they are all hand built unlike TOPS knives that say they are hand build but I know for a fact that they have them manufactured (my friends dad CNC's the blades for them - and cuts the handles out. :)

They are a little on the expensive side - but they offer an awesome Lifetime guarantee that TOPS knives or most other company's dont offer. Any problems with the knife they will fix/or replace the blade regardless of the ownership. My Liberator ended up having a chip in the TufCoat and they replaced the entire knife so i did not have to wait very long. To me, i would rather pay an extra $20-30 to know that for the life of the blade they will guarantee it.

I own the Liberator (bad ass knife by the way), the Strike Fighter, and the Hawkeye. The Hawkeye is my favorite - very balanced knife and the perfect size.

There stuff looks pretty good (if a little pricey), but I'm always a little wary when testimonials are only coming from members with join dates from this month. Not that I could order one if I wanted to, none of the purchase links on their website work for me.

And isn't that basically word for word what the front page of their website says?

From their website: "Most of our knives have a full tang construction and are made from 3/16" thick 1095 HIGH CARBON ALLOY, which is heat treated for hardness only along the sharpened edge - creating a RC hardness of 58, while leaving the spine of the blade softer to absorb the stresses of highimpact chopping. The blades have a powder coated finish and come with a non-slip phenolic handle to ensure the user will maintain a sure grip."

Especially with two first post testimonials from people who just joined about some obscure brand within hours of when the brand was asked about? That's quite a coincidence!

Maybe I'm just cynical.

And why the do both "first post testimonials" both make reference to TOPS? Another coincidence!

That said, I welcome both idahocowboy and dodger 98 to BF and do hope it is just a coincidence!

wow.....you guys asked the question? I dont know who dodger 98 is, but beings that his posting is right off thier website - maybe he is someone with the company.

I just wanted to give my 2 cents. Im not an employee of Scar blades, or do i have any affiliation with them. I know them from many gun shows that i have been to around this area. Tops knives is another knife maker in the same area who has very similar knives - so it is not a coincidence.

type in scar blades in google and the third option down is this forum....not a coincidence that i found it the same day you start the posting.

Once again, I stated from the start that i was a new user here, and I know that my "Stats" would show that was my first post...Just trying to help - not looking for people to jump down my throat for giving personal information.

I started this thread to see if anyone had any first hand experience with the knives. Not sure where the direction is going now.

I have zero experience with the company, but it sounds like an expensive becker or esee. with how those companies have proved themselves, i would stick with them.

The direction of over paranoia. The internet is big place guys , relax.

They look pretty nice and I hate to mention TOPS :p but the two brands knives sure look similiar in design. As far as price is concerned , I've seen lesser knives sell for more as long as it's a overhyped brand that people easily recognize, all too common these days... Becker , ESEE , Ranger , TOPS , etc etc etc just to name of few brands making good knives.. There's a lot of folks buying knives these days and you'd be suprised how many of them do not spend a moment of their lives sitting in front of a LCD on bladeforums.
There is plenty of room for everyone to get a piece of the pie - and i did not even mention custom makers or overseas companies/makers.. My point is that the more companies there are offering good knives the better our world really is.

I have experience with all the other brands mentioned, and I'm not looking for advice on the other brands. There are custom makers on this forum who can make an awesome blade at a very
reasonable price. I was hoping for some new input on a brand that I'm not familiar with.

Thats why i started an account here. I use their knifes and have a little bit of experience with the owner when i met him at the gun shows. Like I said - i own three of their knives so any questions i can answer i am happy to help.

How long have they been in business? All the web-site mentions is their combined experience. I am not a fan of powder coating. How well does theirs hold up to use?
