What is this foreign contraption . . . I do not trust its intentions

Really nice work. 19 is my sweet spot as well.

Yes -- it's absolutely my sweet spot . . . It's acute enough for any cutting task that I have need for and durable enough for heavy chopping. Cheers!

im kicking myself for not getting one... :( cool looking blade...

If you get a chance --- definitely snag one. I'd say it's the ultimate compact chopper and phenomenal for Performance to Weight Ratio

Beautiful edge Rob. I snagged one of these of the Exchange the other day. It was one of the few that I really regretted passing on.

Thanks brother --- awesome if I understood you correctly, you just got one?!! Cheers you'll love it!!

If I'd ever quit liking one over the other I'd throw my thick or thin on the exchange. I haven't even used my fatty but it's not that I don't like it, they just both mass a lot of cutting power in a light package.

I liked the chop house when it came out. I just have to many knives. You put a great edge on it. What grit level did you finish with?

Nice job on the re-profile - looks great!

I almost went for the thick cut but failed to act.

Thanks Cobalt!! I follow this exact Progression:

Diamond Stones: 100, 200, 400, 600, 800, 1000
Ceramic Stones: 1200, 1600, 1.4 micron, .6 micron
Balsa Wood Strops: 5 micron paste, 3.5 micron, 1 micron, .5 micron

It's a lot of steps, but it ensures consistent smoothness across the entire face of the bevel and it optimized the edge geometry and the shoulders behind it. Penetration into any medium greatly increases as a result. It also reduces the corrosion of the steel and it makes a great light reflector ;)

Thanks brother --- I highly recommend snagging one if you can . . . It's a monster for its 9 inch size and 17 oz weight class.

Doinked up the edge on mine when I cracked it into some rocks, time to reprofile. Nothing fancy, I don't like the KME for longer blades so I just used DMT's and strops.

Thanks gents!! Used it last night for some firewood and it was effortless. Such a great knife!! Congrats on the ASH-1 !! At 15 dps and at .22 inches thick --- it makes for a phenomenal all purpose field knife. Cheers!

DMT stones and a strop are definitely all you need to get the job done. Such a great knife!!
