My new Striders blade seems to scratch very easily. Is it possible to get these scratches out without removing the rest of the finish? Also, is it possible to keep this from happening in the future.
Thanks in advance for any advice.

Yes I have interest in this also, I have one strider in the box the other oneI've been messing with and have aquired skuff marks, ya one can see them as beauty marks but.... I was thinking of polishing the blade the bos and strider markings are stamped in but I'm afriad the "1st Production Run" etching will polish out. What do you guys think?
Oh, Joe H got the info sheets on the `110's thank you very much.

At this point I have no new ideas, but i am am going to contact Buck directly and will inform you as to their reply. It would be nice if the Buck moderator would at least let me know that they have no answers, it would at least let me know that they are reading this thread.

Keith, I'm sure Joe will read your post, sometimes it takes a little while, other business going on. He is very good at researching answers for people I have found out.

Keith and Mike,
Sorry for the delay, i was out with the flu last week.
Now the answer to your question could be a tricky one. The knife, which i hear can cut a tank in two, really is desinged for rough use. This use will absolutely mar the finish. Scratches and scuff marks will occure. Any aggressive work on the blade to remove those marks will remove the "first production run" etching. It will also change the color of the spot worked on. The tricky part is wether you want to use this knife as it was intended, or save it as a future collectable. If you use it, it will get scratched up, but just like with a new pick up truck, that first ding will hurt. Just grit you teeth and go cut another tank in half!
I hope this helps,

Thanks Joe, I have already learned to live with the fact that if I want to use my knife the way it was intended that it will scratch.
Thanks for your reply, it is much appreciated.

Thanks Joe, hope you are feeling better. I've been playing with the Strider though. Since converting it to being a lefty , I put the blade on a hard felt buffer with green rouge, the top layer came off but has a real cool cold gray satin polish to it, am trying to be careful on the etching but still get the same effect. So far is very sucessful, the etching is still very clear. As long as I am at it I am "modifing' it into a clip point when I get it all finished I will post a pic. Oh, I have another one in the box that I am not touching. Boys just got to have fun!!

Mike,

While your at it, why don't you make about 100 of them into "clip points" for everyone who has mentioned that they would like one!

You can put me on that list.
I sure hope we see that particular configuration sometime soon.
