scenic roads.

Here are a few that stick out to me.....

89A in AZ from near Prescott through Jerome and Sedona and on to Flagstaff.

76 in CA from south of Fallbrook on I-5 to Julian.

US 50 in CO between Pueblo and Salida.

Alt 74 in NC between Asheville and Forest City.

191 in UT/WY from Vernal, UT to Green River, WY.

US 14/14A and US 16 over the Bighorns in WY; 16 between Buffalo and Ten Sleep is probably my favorite road period.

There's a really nice road in MO near Mastodon State Park; looking at Google maps it's Old Lemay Ferry Road IIRC.

Campgrounds.....

The primitive campsite at Badlands Natl Park. It's on the west side of the park and down a gravel road.

O'Haver Lake near Salida, CO.

North Crestone Campground just outside of Crestone, CO.

Belle Smith Springs in the Shawnee Natl Forest, IL. (near Eddyville)

Graham Cave State Park in MO.

West Tensleep Lake in the Bighorns.

Nothing...... anywhere on the planet..... comes close:

The Cabot Trail. Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia

It is indeed a stunning drive. Amazing place.

I recall a trail down to a place called Fishing Cove on the west side of the island that was well worth the hike in. If a viking ship sailed into the cove I wouldn't have been surprised. It was a tremendous trip (over 20 years ago) and a place I'd like to visit again.

Any parts of western MD, and West VA are very scenic drives, especially 340 at Harpers Ferry. Some parts of US 30, especiall west of Chambersburg, are gorgeous (driving through the mountains).
