George Schrade made and patented switchblade designs from @1906-1922. His brothers continued making them through the 50's of all types. Highly collectable. These knives used a spring inside the handle that flipped the blade out.
Todays Taylor Schrades are made in China. I have 3 of the newer Schrades and see little difference between them and other China made switches. They all use a coil spring which is inside the bolster of the knife and invisible to the eye.
Fun to play with. Fit and finish are similar to other Taylor products.

"Fun to play with"....??..about as much fun I find as that poor Aussie that dived in 12' of water to snorkel/ catch some crabs this weekend and was last seen 'rock'n and rollin'' with a 18' white pointer that was waiting.....they are still looking for his remains poor blighter! I see them but from the relative safety of my boat 'The Orca'....with the same name as "Jaws" boat.I only found that out after I purchased her!
