Schatt & Morgan Replaces Knife

I thought Servotronics was based in Elma, NY - near Buffalo???

I think you're right Charlie. Here's their business profile. The part we're interested in is the underlined part.

Business Summary
Servotronics, Inc., together with its subsidiaries, designs, manufactures, and markets control components and consumer products in the United States and internationally. The company operates in two business segments, Advanced Technology Group and Consumer Products Group. The Advanced Technology Group segment designs, manufactures, and markets various servo-control components, which convert an electrical current into a mechanical force or movement and other related products. It offers torque motors, electromagnetic actuators, hydraulic valves, and pneumatic valves primarily to the commercial aerospace, missile, aircraft, and government related industries, as well as to medical and industrial markets. This segment also produces metallic seals of various cross-sectional configurations, which fit between two surfaces to produce leak-proof joint, as well as to close tolerances from alloy steels. It markets its products to the United States Government, government prime contractors, government subcontractors, commercial manufacturers, and end users through the company’s professional staff.

The Consumer Products Group segment designs, manufactures, and sells various cutlery products, including kitchen knives, such as steak, carving, bread, butcher, and paring knives for household use, as well as for use in restaurants, institutions, and private industries; and pocket and other types of knives for hunting, fishing, and camping. Its products include machetes and bayonets for military use; and other cutlery items, including various specialty tools, putty knives, linoleum sheet cutters, and field knives. This segment sells its products directly and through independent manufacturers’ representatives to hardware, supermarket, variety, department, discount, gift, and drug stores, as well as to the United States government and related agencies under the Old Hickory and Queen brand names. The company was founded in 1959 and is based in Elma, New York

Wow, what a big difference in the dyeing between the handles of the old and new. I assume the handles are bone. Is it poor dyeing quality or just the fickleness of bone?

You know, EVERY company is going to make mistakes now and then, the sign of a GREAT company is when they go out of their way to make everything right.

I was just going by what Clarence Risner told me. He has dealt with them for years. Perhaps he is wrong.

Here it is again. You were referring to Servotronics Corp., It should be Servotronics Inc..

Thank You for pointing that out again Ed. Isn't a Corporation the same as being incorporated?
We can all believe whatever we choose. Me I think I'll believe the man who has written more than 1 book on the subject. And a man (Clarence) who makes his living buying & selling knives. Clarence has had more SFO's made by S&M than everyone else combined. The Premier line is his, he has dealt with the upper crust of Servotronics personally for years.

Let's move on fellas. The fine print (and any contention) can be taken to email (if necessary) as we are straying off-topic...
