School me on CPM 20CV

I've looked at the Half Track and hear good things about it but something about it just doesn't appeal to me visually. I hear it fits nicely in the hand though. I've also contemplated the MP1, its more in line with the 3" in size anyway.

I pretty much only buy knives after havinf them in hand, unless I know the knife already. If my go to local store had a 4.5"+ fixed blade in 20cv it would be coming home if it had a profile I liked (esp a Sibert type) and decent balance, fit and finish. Oh yeah and was under $300.

I wish I had somewhere near me I could do that as well. Definitely the best way to go! Nothing close to me where I can actually handle the knife.

Do you know M390? If not, what about CTS 204P?
If yes to either of those, then you know CPM 20CV.

About S35Vn vs M390/204P/20CV:
S35Vn will sharpen more quickly, dull more quickly, and take a slightly keener edge, but should be slightly tougher, given all things being equal.

M390/204p/20CV will hold a working edge longer and possibly be a bit more stain resistant.

I for some reason have also always found the m390 familyto be easier to sharpen than s35vn or virtually any other high alloy stainless. It is like they hit on some miracle recipie somehow.

I’d like to know how tough the m390 family is.

Yeah, there is really just one for me in OKC, and that's a 40 min drive luckily, besides Cabelas and Bass Pro. I avoid going to Cabelas and BassPro....

I have owned an EdgePro but sold it. Just wwaayy too much fiddling, setting up, adjusting and dealing with water all over the palce. It just took too long to sharpen a knife!
Hm see to me I would have kept the Edge Pro over the Sharpmaker as I’ve owned both previously and can say the Sharpmaker does no justice if your knife is in need of a new edge.

Edge Pro, yes will make a bit of a mess but if you have some old glass cooking pans the wife doesn’t use anymore I found those are perfect to keeping the mess at a minimum! Whichever way you decide I’m sure you’ll love the knife regardless. Just be sure to message me when you need a new edge ;)
