School me on fishing!

Stingray4540: I've eaten some of the nastiest things possible on Earth, but it doesn't mean I've enjoyed it. I've eaten plenty of monkey, a huge variety of insects and arachnids, snake, gator, blood puddings, tons of sea creatures fresh and cooked (including sea urchin, sea cucumbers, sea slugs, jellyfish, squid, live baby octopus, crab brains, etc.), a living gecko, a variety of reptiles, birds nests, rabbit head, raccoon, possum, squirrel, and the list goes on and on. Most of the time it was not in the wilds, it was just cultural! Fish has just never done it for me though. I'll take monkey or sea urchins any day over just about any cooked fish!

I would definitely be interested in some of Jackknife's stories. I try to collect things like that myself. Thank you very much!

I currently am living in NorCal, near Sac. I try to spend some time in the Sierras, but my time is limited. I'll be backpacking there in a couple of weeks.

Rock6: Good call on the safety pins. I'm going to give that a try soon. I need to get a hand casting rig like yours. Thanks again!

What kind of nasty fish have you been eating. Go catch a trout(rainbow brown, what ever.) Cut him up the middle,Gut him. Stuff butter and lemon juice inside him. Close him, wrap bacon on the outside, and then wrap the whole fish up in tin foil. Throw him on a grill. He's done when the bacon is done. Then tell me you don't like fish.;)

Allthough I can't compare it with monkey, as I never had it. I'd imagine if the monkey only ate fruit and plants it couldn't be too bad.

Tonym: You're my kinda guy! Any time you add butter and bacon the flavor suddenly improves a hundred fold! That sounds really good, so I'll have to give that a try. One of my daughters suddenly has an interest in fishing so maybe this will make fish more appealing to her also. Thanks for the tip!

Maybe I need to get some of those dry bacon slabs that don't need to be refridgerated. That might be a worthy additon to my survival kit. Need to figure out how to attach some to my keychain too, to go along with the light, knife, ferro rod, spy capsules, etc. already on there. Maybe I can add some spices and ghee to a couple of spy capsules and my kit will be complete!

My mind is working out all the possibilities and my mouth is watering!
