  • Today marks the 24th anniversary of 9/11. I pray that this nation does not forget the loss of lives from this horrible event. Yesterday conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was murdered, and I worry about what is to come. Please love one another and your family in these trying times - Spark

School me on flashlights!!

I've used Fenix, Surefire, Olight, and Maglight. Oh, and Inova (I don't even know if they're still out there). I have the most Fenix lights, although I like the operation of Olights the most. Anymore, though, I'll probably stick with Surefire, Streamlight, or Maglight (I think they're all USA made?).

I have a Fenix that has survived night shift for a year.

I am big in AA batteries because they are easy swap and most companies provide batteries. Also big on $30-50 price range as people take flashlights subconsciously. I don’t use rechargeable flashlights because rechargeable batteries are a joke in the cold. I also only carry flashlights at work. My flashlight is for my safety, I use the strobe feature to let equipment know if I am in the area. I work around large scale mining equipment and a flashlight is the best safety item I have.

I believe that these days you would find that Lithium batteries including rechargeable lithium batteries are better in the cold than Alkaline AA batteries. However I agree that Alkaline AA batteries have their own attraction- cheap, easy to get, and slim.
