I'm wondering about the quality of the Taylor Schrade 1095 carbon steels. Specifically the SCHF5 neck knife is now being offered in 1095 as opposed to the 7cr it initially used. I've seen the 1095 version as low as $14 and would love it if it were actually any good. Anybody have experience?

I honestly don't use my Schrade Frontier knives that much but i certainly love em. Those that have used theirs often have all said it is some of the best 1095 for the money, heat treated well

Cool. I bought a Sharpfinger 3-4 years ago and ended up tossing it into the garbage. Sure liked the design though......forum sure is looking spiffy now!

Their 1095 is great! I have two of their 7 inch fixed blades with the steel. It can take a beating, holds its edge pretty good, good edge stability. A few hot spots, but can be smoothed out easily. Have not re profiled the edge yet. I want to take the edge down to 20 dps and see how well it holds up. With the factory angles, the edge holds up great.
