Schrade Cut Co question

Ron,
Does Ras's 2nd picture answer your questions?
These were all made to open fully.

There has been previous discussions about putting EBay references to active auctions in a forum post. If I'm bidding on an item, and someone posts it on the forum, it may have been a knife that was not well listed, and would call attention to it.

I wouldn't do that, but then again, I'm a ruthless sniper, and someone else might deem that chicken *&$# as well. Just my opinion.

How about it Cougar, whats the policy?

If I am involved in no way with selling the item and I guess if I dont see any of your handles as bidder I fail to see where there is any problem unless anyone is asking what its worth or how much should I bid..
Eric just gave me a heads up on an item which I had not seen and had no bids, so I am greatful for that.Note for Eric..we sleep while you are awake and visa versa so Vendor did actually reply and I got too late. He is sending a second chance I hope.
If someone has grossly misstated an item and we see say Scotty bidding on it wouldnt friends mention it in normal conversation so why not on here?
The point is if Good intentions prevail with NO hidden agendas to influence the outcome of the auction process then what is wrong with the forum mission statement "discussions with genuine like minded Schrage collectors"........with the proviso I still reserve the right to take Mr Taylor to task as we sink ever further into the debths!!.. because it has a direct bearing on denigrating not only the values of our established genuine Schrade collections but also the perceived quality of Schrade products and the confusion caused by say hard cardboard covered LB 2's for example ....IMHO Hoo Roo

Larry,
Yes, Ras's second picture answers my question. Actually Ras's pictures are my knife. And the listing has been updated.

Who makes Schrage, Larry? Freud Cut. Co? Can you post a pic??:D

....that's a 'cutting remark' Waynorth...actually its 'Craze Co' for Cut Price Cutlery..under Licence from you know who....
Wasn't it Freud who said "If all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail"........Hoo Roo

IMHO, the best practice involving a current auction is to make contact off forum, even if its not your auction. Mentioning it on the forum just drives up the price; not such much from regular forum posters; but, more from silent observers. IMHO, one of the keys to building a nice collection on the cheap is discovering poorly listed knives and being careful not to bid them up. Also, you have to be careful about asking tang stamp questions, etc. of the seller, if the seller posts the Q&A in the description. You might have a ad for a Schrade Old Timer that mentions neither Schrade or Old Timer; but, when you ask for the tang stamp and the handle shield and the seller adds it to the description, its on then.

If a Freudian slip reveals our hidden hopes/desires, what does a Freudian slipjoint reveal??

Barry:

I like the way you think. Your opinions are usually well thought out and diplomatic, yet it is not out of character to pull the velvet knife, if necessary.

...alright what is wrong with mentioning a current auction that may be interesting to watch it unfold with very little chance of driving up the price or compromising a forum member...Waynorth perhaps?...Ebay #330090281188 is 75th anniversary Clasp not only with the SS Bolsters and the Stag Scales but also with Gold Inlays..only 1 of 250 ever produced and each one hand filed by Herman Williams currently@ US $1300. None of us may be in a position to acquire however how many even knew this series existed apart from the regular varieties?.
Why let it disappear from viewing simply because of some all encompassing rule? If we have no hidden agendas and do not wish to influence the outcomes of the auction process I for one will continue to bring items like this to the Schrade forum and would welcome others doing the same in the same spirit. If I get banned I guess I just disappear..I enjoy my own company anyway...Hoo Roo

Yes, but in this case the knife in question is being listed by the original poster who asked the question. He took the picture of the knife fully open, so he must have known the answer beforehand (see post #25). Not exactly innocent IMO.

ras is right! that is the issue! it is not ethical to discuss your live listing here. it is a sneaky form of advertising, using our (ahem) intellectual forum for commercial purposes; a form of hijack! while it is fun to win a poorly presented auction (I once got two Case whittlers for the price of one!) it is fair game to discuss others listings here, IMO (sorry you snipers, of which I am one!)
And the attempt was lame anyway! I mean a switch that opens to 90 degrees, c'mon! give me a break!
Really it's "look at my knife, look at my knife!" sheesh!!

Man law: no posting of auctions in which you are the seller. Everything else is okay by me. I just wish I knew everyone's handle on e-bay so that I knew who keeps sniping me. It's actually forced me to be a sniper!

I came to this Blade forum and started this post to find out how this very old knife works not to advertise. When the button is pressed on this knife the blade automatically opens to 90 degrees, after which the blade has to be manually extended to 180 degrees. I do not know if this is how this knife works or not (since this is an old knife). I was hoping to find that out here which I still haven't found out for sure.

It's because the spring is too weak to open it all the way!!!!! Old George S. must be rolling in his grave!!!
Lord let this thread die!!!!

I don't understand Charlie. Could you draw a picture of how those knives work!;)
