I just got a Schrade IHEA folding knife with the engraved leather belt case, it says LTD Edition on the handle. Would someone mind telling me what I got??How old it might be?? Is it a desirable piece?? Thanks,Rich
Rich,
IHEA International Hunters Education Assoc.
Yearly commissioned a Schrade knife for sale to its members. Like DU and others.
I see a PH2, LB5 and a 5UH. All LTD to an order of 500 or 250.
Hope that helps
Larry
Found an example that was a LTD 5UH of 5000 in 2003.
My local Wal-Mart carried the IHEA 5UH. It was one of the last knives in their display case in 2004. If I remember right, it came with a color pin in a clampack.
Schrade was a big supporter of the shooting sports and wildlife programs in general.
Here is a 505SC with an IHEA sheath. I believe the knife was to be scrimmed/etched for IHEA...but it just didn't happen before the demise.
I've seen the IHEA knives on eBay as well.
Here is the IHEA5CP I mentioned. A bit of investigation turned up a listing sheet for an order of 5,000 of these for Dick's, Gaylans, and Wal-Mart. It was to include the IHEA blade etch and shield, the pin and IHEA branded sheath. The order was dated in early 2003. Quite a few of these were seen sans shield in the post-closing WIP dispersion.
An 897UH was also used for an IHEA SFO. I haven't seen any paperwork on it, just the picture from my archives showing a closeup of the pin.
