Schrade Desert Storm Commemorative Knife Rarity?

I have one of the Schrade scrimshaw Desert Storm commemorative folders with the liner lock. It's one of the larger knives, definitely not pocket carry size. Mine is numbered 007 and is in overall very nice shape, however I don't have the original box. Does anyone know how many of these Schrade produced and what the rarity factor on such a low serial number would be? It's a Schrade USA model SC500. Blade is nearly perfect. Bolsters have slight discoloration that should be able to be polished out.

What does the box or the condition have to do with its rarity?

Mostly has to do with value. Rare items are worth substantially more when they are in good condition and have the original box. But in terms of rarity, finding a low production item in great condition can mean increased rarity if the items were usually used. It's a lot like finding an all original 1969 Camaro with 5k miles is a lot rarer than a remodeled one with 100k miles. It's worth more, because it's rarer. It does seem like OP is asking more about value than rarity, however, they kind of go hand in hand in many cases.

I kinda figured that was where we were going, but with his membership level, he cannot do that, I believe.

And he has been down this road before.

And, I suppose, a low serial number isn't rarer than a high serial number...it is more desirable/valuable.

Knife #7 of 500 is no rarer than knife #107 of 500. There are only one of each of them.

I was not intending to seek a value on it. My question was more based on how many of these knives Schrade produced overall. I figured if it was #7 out of 100 that would make it much more rare than #7 out of 25,000. Sorry if I came across as asking value. I got my hand slapped on that in my first post here and won't do it again.

Ah. I see. You had posted

and mentioned the knife's low serial number twice, but never mentioned the size of the run. So I just assumed you were asking about the low serial #, which is a value/desirability question.

But if you are talking about the size of a run, #X out of 100 is rarer than #X out of 25,000. Because only 100 were made of the former. And 25,000 were made of the latter. That would be true for any knife, not just yours.

Again, not sure why you are going back to the serial number again. #7 of 100 is no rarer than #87 of 100 or #1 of 100. But certain numbers are more desirable/valuable.

If you want to know how valuable your low serial number knife is based on its serial number of 7, if you get a Gold membership that can be discussed.

Actually, I did ask if anyone knew how many Schrade produced. I was genuinely curious.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? Even if it was built before Taylor cutlery bought out Schrade, they're likely to have relevant production numbers and whatnot available.

I'm a Desert Storm Veteran. And the pics of said knife are??? C'mon man....lets see it!
