Schrade knives

I thought all of the uncle henry blades were made with Schrade+ (stainless). I have early examples and to the last one Uncle's are stainless While Schrade's old timers were carbon.

As to the new Schrade line, I bought 4 to test and they were all really bad. Mostly poor fit and finish with weak springs.

That's a general rule, yes. I'm not an expert on Uncle Henry knives, but Old Timers were sometimes made in stainless. Some models were stainless-only, many of the limited editions and special series were stainless, and some models were transitioning to stainless towards the end of production (sometimes even containing a mix of stainless and carbon blades).

My experience with the Chinese imports is limited. Did you know that Schrade themselves were moving some production to China before the bankrupcy? I have one of those, an Imperial Apex, and it's certainly no worse than the previous Ireland-made version.

I also have a single current-production import received as a gift, an Imperial hoof knife, and the quality is not good. But of course the price was low too, and Imperial has been the low-end Schrade brand since I can remember.
