This is my latest Schrade, an LB1 model complete with box & paper.
The knife comes from the unsold stock of a long gone knife & fishing store in the Netherlands which closed somewhere in the 80's, and was kept by the widow of the owner inside it's own box ever since, together with several other knives.
The original 80's price in Dutch guilders is still on the back of the box, which in US currency translates to 44.66 US Dollars

2 This model was the first and smallest in the LB a series which included the LB3, LB5, and LB7
3 The Apex AP1 and the Tradesman TM7 have the same blade pattern as the LB1 but are made by Imperial Schrade in Ireland and are not the same high quality or materials as evidenced in the LB1
4 In 1986, a traditional Uncle Henry version, of the LB1 was made, LB2, Staglon UH handles, no shield
5 The LB1 was a favorite in the Scrimshaw line
6 The small clip blade style has been used for special creations for clubs and organizations
7 The largest in the LB series is the LB7 and LB8, the LB7 has the fibron handle and is a current model

nice knife and very nice in the box.
nice reading but one small error was noted. in the E. section "2 This model was the first and smallest in the LB a series which included the LB3, LB5, and LB7" the Lb 7 was the first of the LB series starting in 1978. the LB 1 and LB 5 did not appear til 1981.

A very nice find! And they are small enough to fit on a keychain if you are so inclined. The 1 3/8" blade would be unimposing and likely not get you into trouble making your daily rounds. Congrats! And thanks for the good pictures.

Nice little knife you got there! I love the LB1, and the scrimshaw version too. Were you able to get any of the other knives she had?

Nice to know there are Schrade lovers in The Netherlands too, kwackster! It's very cool how a little knife like that brings folks together on common ground 30 years after it was made. Given a choice, I prefer the oldest examples of any given pattern and the stamping on yours means it's very early. Nice score!

These are the other US made Schrade models i acquired over the years.
The 150T Deerslayer comes from an online auction, while the Sharpfinger in the dark sheath is one of my users.
On this one i made the edge a bit longer than it was from factory and i rethreaded the sheath.
The rest was bought basically new in box from the same old lady from which i bought the LB1 (which is also in this picture)

I have a Lb 1 I let someone use and they broke the tip Kick my self for never sending it in it was the fist knife I ever bought.

Hi from Australia, I have six of the LB1 Schrades. Some have "Uncle Henry" stamped on the blade... Ken

Does anyone know the dates indicated by the addition of Uncle Henry (listed first) on the tang stamp? Or anything about the rarity or a difference in value?

Thanks!!

in looking at my collection of lockbacks, the change occurred at the end of the single alpha cycle round Zxxxxx to AAxxxx. since the other lockbacks, LB5, LB3, LB2 and LB1 were not serialized not sure when they changed but probably did it round the same time as the LB7. looked at my LB1's, LB3's and LB5's and they all have a tang with just the SCHRADE+ and also the Uncle Henry on them indicating there was a change made and just guessing here but they all might have been changed at about the same time.
