Hello I was curious about the laws of being able to carry my 125ot when I come over to America with UL .

I only carry Schrade so I believe is appropriate to the forum .

What Schrade can you carry in the USA ? Are linerlocks, cablelocks with thumb studs a problem ?

Can you only carry this knife only in New Hampshire?

I'm sure Esav will correct me if not . This is a genuine question.

Thankyou Bridgey , How do they know if you have unlawful intent .?
Some people drive cars that should be charged with that .
Will the New Hampshire laws have a impact on the other states as I was also wondering about the legality of carring a Schrade knife roll around with UL to show you blokes or when buying as a tourist ?
I know I can mail home to myself but the possession of I was concered about .

You can carry a 125OT in Kansas. I see LB7's and Buck 110 lockback knives being strapped onto working mans belts all the time. It's OK to carry any of the larger fixed blade knives for that matter.

Fair suck of the Sav Jamo..we're not even able to discuss or rejoice in Larry Vickery's long awaited good news...you have to wonder when someone like lrv breaks the fudgy rules..Hoo Roo

Is that only in Kansas?
Do you blokes have reps or something to lobby for collectors of Schrade for instance ?

A Quote from a previous thread .

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to Rep. Jenn Coffey, attorney Evan Knappen, and the many others who worked tirelessly to make this a reality. Let’s hope this precedent starts a snowball effect in other states, as well!

Again, this new law is all-encompassing; all types of knives are now LEGAL to buy, sell, own, and CARRY here in New Hampshire, including automatic (switchblade) knives.

I have not heard of any states restricting any knives you can buy in the hardware stores. Only automatics and switchblades. as far as I know all of the Schrade traditional patterns are legal to carry in the USA. Maybe some companies or cities might have specific limits.

Thankyou Thawk it will be a honour one day to come over and meet up with everybody .
I thank LRV ,Codge and yourself for the mateship and work that you all have put into this great Schrade Forum .email me anytime

If you come visit me in Tennessee, you can only carry on you a knife with a 4" blade or less. Yes, that also carry the "intent to go armed" phrase. So I guess you can carry a 4" or smaller knife intending to go armed.

However, if you have a reason, such as camping, fishing, hunting, etc., you can carry a blade of any length including filet knives, bowies and Arkansas toothpicks. Switchblades are banned at any length, but butterflys are not considered switchblades.

Of course, the privilidged class of citizens, government officials and police officers are exempted. Active duty military too. They can't trust the rest of us to behave. Unless we are hunting, fishing or camping.

There is a forum here at BF where the knife laws can be discussed.

http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=735

The laws on carry are regulated by each state and the federal govt chimes in with there own. I can now go less than 5 miles and be arrested for carrying a knife totally legal here in NH even if its not a springer.
God help me if I mail one.

Also go to Bernie's forum here at BF and follow his links for a state by state list of laws.

...you dont have to mail them Larry just buy them for us on Ebay <all those early Schrade Hunter switchblades> cos now its legal for you and we can come and pick up personally and carry in our general luggage upon our return.....I would be more worried getting Jamo thru Customs, than the knives.....Hoo Roo

Thankyou Codge ,Thawk and lrv you deserve respect and was the reason also for me starting this thread .
It is hard for me to go over to another forum and ask questions .
It has taken me over 8 mths to do so here ,thats why it is nice to be able to talk about anything as well .
Can you pop over here and chat about this then over there for that .
It would be a difficult task for most .
The only Moderaters in this section should be Codge and LRV I believe as is my personal opinion .

I would be lost without this Forum and thankyou lrv who is the owner of
http://www.collectors-of-schrades-r.us/ who should never be Moderated by anyone .

I treat people how I like to be treated , I have a laugh here and there .
This is a peoples public forum thats why I believe the above attributes are essential in some aspects of communication with your fellow man .

I can't wait to meet up one day .

Seems totally appropriate to discuss it here since Schrade, Imperial, and Walden (Press Button Knife) were three of the biggest switch producers back in the good old days.

Jamo, I've got one of those wire locks here, darned nice knife, one of the sexier Schrades:cool: Not an assisted open, you have to assist it all the way, but still a cool knife with one hand operation both opening and closing.

Yes they are top shelf in the cable lock . I bought one off UL then my wife wanted one ,I was lucky to find another in Australia mint in original box .
Probably one that UL shared out earlier.
You are right I saw the Patent from George Schrade that lrv has on his site over 100 yrs .
UL told me these were being made just as Schrade were getting really inventiven.
I think they are so comfortable to handle despite the skeletal harsh appearance .

What Schrade can you carry in the USA ?

Jamo - Just come to South Carolina. You can carry just about any knife you want to. Not a switchblade, though. You can own one, you just can't carry it.
In Clarendon County, it's fashionable to carry a knife. Nothing tops off a nice Sunday-go-to-meetin' suit like a nice Sharpfinger strapped to your side. Of course, you need your 897 Uncle Henry in your pocket to play Mumbley-Peg during the break between Sunday School and Church.

I'd love to mate and are working toward it .
I spend over 10hrs a day in the USA already .
My family have property's in Lake Clarendon Queensland Australia mostly a agricultural community .

It was interesting the particular size being a 125ot or hunter to that length that Codge mentioned .
I carry here as it is my tool in the bush but it is Illegal in town .
I just go to town or bank and forget to take it off ,
Never was worried before until all the media hype due to people doing the wrong thing .
Thats why its so weird me feeling guilty of wearing my 125ot in public now because of mis deeds done by others .

to save any hassle -why not just leave the knives at home -take more money - buy them over there-carry around without intent-bring home in checked baggage?
are ya gonna need it at the airport?
cheers & have safe & pleasant trip.

Thankyou Codge ,Thawk and lrv you deserve respect and was the reason also for me starting this thread .

i feel as i though i need to weigh in at this point. i am active on two groups here in BF, and i too feel awkward posting anywhere else outside of those two. don't be rough on esav as he was doing his job, and that post did, by rule i'm sure, belong in a different catagory. but it's still nice to share the news with the friends you are always talking to.

i have a lot of fun here and in the becker group. you're all a great bunch.

come to the south there you can carry anything you want. i carry an LB 7 in my back pocket not strapped to my side which in some states would be considered hidden. have carried one since 1978 when they first came out. also carry a 125OT on my bike for emergencies plus a leatherman. the south being Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisisana , Texas, North and South Carolina. not sure about Florida it is populated by too many transplanted Yankees.
